Permaculture@USP Information Night

Permaculture@USP is unique programme in USP which explores environmental issues through evening workshops, dumpster diving, forest school and even an overseas trip. If you have an insatiable curiosity for sustainable living, bio-mimicry, systems thinking, urban farming and anything green, drop by this info night to find out more about the programme from the coordinator himself, USP alum Alexius Yeo (Geography + USP, Class of 2010). No pre-requisites for the programme except being (or have been) a USP student and a curious mind for nature.

SEA at the Crossroads

USP students will be travelling to Chiang Mai province in Thailand to examine environmental and resources issues due to an increasing population, expanded industry and intensified agriculture. This study trip will allow students to address and aim in contributing to the technological, socioeconomic and political innovations that are emerging. USP faculty members and students will be working with the Departments of Chemistry, Biology, the Environmental Science Research Center, and the Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) at Chiang Mai University.

Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society in China

This one-week study trip partnering with Chu Kochen Honors College (CKC), Zhejiang University is an experiential programme to promote student leadership. The trip will broadly cover the basic concepts of future leadership and topics in computer sciences, life sciences, medicine, innovation and strategic management, sociology and environmental arts. Students will be exposed to and learn from leading professors in their areas of expertise. Classroom sessions will be conducted in seminar style with strong emphasis on peer discussion following short lectures. Students need to complete assignments and a final group project at the end of the trip. USP students who go on this trip will also participate in a one-week study trip in Singapore and to host students of CKC from 21 to 26 July 2019. 

We Will Dance 2019

Organised by USP students, We Will Dance 2019 is back on 24 August at Cinnamon College (USP). Join us at this fourth iteration of Singapore’s first 10-hour charity dance marathon where funds raised will support educational opportunities at Autism Association Singapore, SPD’s Learning and Development Centre, and USP Student Assistance Fund. We Will Dance presents 10 beginner dance sessions of different genres and led by renowned dance studios and instructors.

The Bicentennial Experience (organised by The Sessions)

As the centrepiece event of the Singapore Bicentennial, The Sessions has organised a visit “The Bicentennial Experience” exhibition which promises participants a multi-sensory and theatrical exploration of Singapore history at Fort Canning Park. Following the visit, participants will also have the opportunity to interact with Mr Gene Tan, Executive Director of the Singapore Bicentennial Office.

Dinner Conversation with Dr Amy Khor

Organised by The Cinnamon Conversation interest group, this is a series of informal and relaxed conversations over dinner. At this session, they will be hosting Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment and Water Resources. Do join Dr Khor in a conversation on environment and sustainability in Singapore.
