Data Journalism Hackathon
USPThis is USP’s first ever data hackathon event, organised by our Quantitative Reasoning professors and a team of students. Named “Data Journalism”, it aims to encourage USP and NUS students to think critically and to reason quantitatively with real world data, utilising it to develop solutions to today’s complex problems. Participants will deliver a 3-minute video designed to tell a story with data and will have the opportunity to meet speakers, mentors and judges from IBM, Google, URA and CNA. Find out more HERE.

USC Freshmen Orientation Camp: Heroes
USPOrganised by University Scholars Club (USC), the USP Freshmen Orientation Camp (O’Camp) builds on the friendships developed among the freshmen during Scholaris earlier this month, to further integrate the freshmen into our community as the new AY approaches. 17th AUN and 6th ASEAN+3 Educational Forum and Young Speakers’ Contest
USPUSP will host the Educational Forum and Young Speakers’ Contest initiated by the ASEAN University Network (AUN). The event provides a platform for students from the ASEAN region and ‘Plus Three’ countries (China, Japan and Korea) to discuss and explore regional issues. The theme for the 2017 forum and contest is “ASEAN+3 in an Era of Global Uncertainty: Responses and Challenges” and participants will explore issues such as security, climate change and economic challenges. Incoming Student Delegation from UTAR, Malaysia
USPUSP will host students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia. The students will take part in a community development and social entrepreneurship study trip planned by A/P Albert Teo. The visit is the reciprocal component of the Forgotten Communities Study Programme held in Malaysia last December.
Farm Nursery Setup and Build
USPLed by USP alum Alexius Yeo (Geography + USP, Class of 2010) who is an urban farmer, USP embarks on building Singapore’s very first farm institute called the Centre for Nature Literacy and Enterprise (CNLE). We are calling for students and faculty who are interested to learn about organic farming, the natural sciences, nature-based businesses, sustainable Permaculture design, community development and holistic living. Even if you have never grown a plant before, this project does not exclude you. We have a saying – if you eat, you’re in!
