Musicology and the Mozarteum

In this session, USP alum Pamela Cheong (English Literature + USP, Class of 2006) and Prof Peter Maria Krakauer will share with the USP community the cultural and social relevance of music. Prof Krakauer will also talk about improvisation and demonstrate the piano in different musical styles. 

USP International Programmes Sharing Sessions Day 2

Day 1: Short Term Programmes | Wed, 24 Aug, 4.00pm – 5.45pm Day 2: Student Exchange and Special | Thu, 25 Aug, 10.00am – 11.45am The sessions are an opportunity for past participants to share their experiences and for interested students to explore some of the USP International Programmes available in this academic year. Presentations will take place over two days where Day 1 will be dedicated to Short Term Programmes and Day 2will be dedicated to Student Exchange Programmes and Special Programmes (Joint Degree/Double Degree Programmes).

The Rector’s Programme – Meet the Rector

The Rector’s Programme (TRP) is a series of personal and professional development talks and networking sessions, which aims at developing USP students’ intellectual aspirations, career directions and social responsibility beyond the University. Through TRP, students will hopefully be encouraged and empowered to lead a purpose-driven, meaningful and impactful life, both in the workplace and in the community at large. Guest speakers from the corporate, non-profit and public sectors will come and share the challenges they face and how they navigate the fast-changing complex world. In this session, Ms Euleen Goh, Rector of Cinnamon College, will share what shapes her life’s purpose, her principles and her passion. Do join us!

Information Session – University College Utrecht

University College Utrecht has been one of USP’s student exchange partners since 2011. Dr Guus de Krom, Chairman of the UCU Exam Board and UCU Instructor, will provide an overview of UCU and what it is like to study in the Netherlands. USP Fellows: Dinner Conversation with Prof Lai Choy Heng

This is part of the series of “Dinner Conversations” aimed at encouraging USP students to explore new horizons of work by interacting with USP Fellows over dinner. Each session will consist of one Fellow and three to five students. Locating the Middle East beyond Aladdin and Osama bin Laden by Ms Koh Choon Hwee

This is an interactive lecture focused on dispelling common stereotypes about the Middle East and teaching young Singaporeans how to approach Anglophone news coverage about current conflicts plaguing the region. An alumna of NUS FASS who had also studied at the USP, she completed her masters in Lebanon, where she lived for two years, volunteered in the West Bank, and has studied in Delhi, Damascus and Tehran. Currently, she is working on her PhD in Middle East History in the US. Interested students, please register your attendance here.
