My Unique Resume Workshop with Photo-shoot Session

Master's Commons, USP

Workshop: 3.00pm – 5.30pm Photo-shoot Session: 6.30pm – 7.30pm Organised by USP Career Services, the workshop will guide students on how to prepare a resume that aligns with one’s career inclination and reflects the uniqueness of being a USP graduate. At the end of the workshop, participants who are interested to get a professional photo for their resumes, may do so with an alum photographer, for $15. USP students not attending the above workshop may also have a professional photo taken for the same rate.

USP Consulting Club Launch

USP is pleased to announce that we will have our own Consulting Club! To be launched officially this Saturday, the USP Consulting Club aims to provide USP students who wish to explore more about the consulting industry with stronger support in terms of community, exposure, resources and network. During the launch, you will get to hear about the vision and roadmap of USP Consulting Club, how to be part of the interest group club and what you can learn from joining in. USP Director A/P Kang Hway Chuan together with USP alumni who are currently in the consulting industry will be at the launch. Do come down if you wish to know more about consulting as a career or beyond that!

Discussion with USP faculty A/P Barbara Ryan on American Studies

USP faculty Assoc Prof Barbara Ryan will talk about teaching American Studies glocally. The session will include a discussion of Sonny Liew's graphic novel, “The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye”, as an example of glocal thought that references US popular culture.

Networking with USP Alums (Teachers)

Eight USP alums who are currently teachers will share their experiences as educators at this get-together session with current USP students who may be considering teaching as a career and also, those who are on Ministry of Education (MOE) Teaching Scholarship/Awards. The alums will talk about their National Institute of Education (NIE) experience, practicum sessions, “Things I wished I knew before signing up to be a teacher”, and many more.

Sharing Session on “Forgotten Communities: A Study of New Villages in Malaysia”

Last December, USP students visited Perak, Malaysia to conduct ethnographic field research on three ethnic Chinese fishing village communities. While studies have been conducted to document the demographic changes in such villages, documentation of the experiences of the villagers remains scarce. The ‘Forgotten Communities’ participants have completed research reports on the three villages and will present their key findings to the USP community.

Sharing Session on Living, Studying and Working in Japan

USP alum Yvonne Lim (Economics + USP, Class of 2013) completed the NUS-Waseda Double Degree Programme and is now pursuing a career in consulting in Tokyo. Yvonne will share her experiences at Waseda University which opened up her current career opportunities in Japan. Yvonne will be joined by students from various leading universities in Japan who will provide tips and insights into Japanese university life, in and out of lectures and tutorials. The sharing session is particularly useful for students interested in: (1)  The NUS-Waseda Double Degree Programme (2)  Student Exchange Programmes to Japan through your Home Faculty (3)  Graduate programmes in Japan (4)  Internships and working in Japan
