A Conversation on Migrant Labour in Singapore

Join this conversation with USP faculty Dr Leung Wing Sze and three invited speakers – Mr John Gee (Former Vice-president of Transient Workers Count Too (TWC2)), USP alum Mr Ow Yeong Wai Kit (English Language & Literature Teacher) and Mr Zakir Hossain Khokon (a construction supervisor and freelance journalist) – as they look at various issues of migrant labour in Singapore. Mr Zakir, also the winner of the 2014 and 2015 Migrant Worker Poetry Contest in Singapore, will read some of his poems during the session. Everyone in USP is invited.

Career Planning Workshop

Organised by USP Career Services, this workshop is run by USP alum Joel Lam (Philosophy + USP, Class of 2016), currently a regional strategy analyst at MasterCard, who is passionate to share with his USP juniors on career planning. He will touch on identifying synergies and skill gaps to build a roadmap towards your desired job, and using frameworks to change your perspectives on viewing and growing your career meaningfully. This session will be useful for students who are unsure on how to plan their activities in university that will support their career aspirations.

BrainFood+ invites you to a discussion titled “Universities on the Move” with three panelists – Mr Adrian Kuah, Director of NUS Futures Office; Mr Aaron Maniam, USP Adjunct Lecturer; and our very own USP Director, A/P Kang Hway Chuan. Moderated by USP student Mohammed Noor Haqeem (Economics + USP, Class of 2019), the panelists will present their thoughts on undergraduate learnings and futures. Come along to add a reflective (and collaborative) dimension to your unique USP experience by learning with them!
