Giving to USP
Thank you for your interest in making a gift to the NUS University Scholars Programme (USP). As USP transitions to NUS College (NUSC), your gift will be able to continue nurturing a community of engaged, globally minded, and service-oriented young people, to make significant contributions to society.
Ways to Give
No gift is too small, and we will be grateful to receive yours.
As USP transitions to NUSC, we remain committed to helping our students. Currently, the areas that you can consider lending your support to within the College are the NUS College Student Assistance Fund – an unrestricted fund to support students in a variety of ways including Impact Experience (IEx) and Global Experience (GEx), pastoral care and defraying the costs of meal plan subscription for residential living to ensure a robust campus life, and the USP International Programmes Award – initiated by our alumni from the Class of 2015 to help deserving students further subsidise the cost of participating in international programmes.
We are extremely grateful for donors who have supported USP through grants, scholarships and prizes. Here are two such donors who are NUS alumni:
- Dr Freddie Tan made a gift of $50,000 to NUS to establish a grant in memory of his late grandfather, Mr Tan Chew Char. Named Tan Chew Char Grant for Social Sciences, the grant supports current Singaporean NUS College students in need of financial assistance who are Singaporean Citizens and from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, majoring in the Social Sciences (with preference for Psychology, Social work or Sociology) and volunteer/have volunteered in local nursing home, hospice, or orphanage or initiated community or school events to raise awareness during their course of study.
- Mr Foo Jixun and his wife, Mdm Serene Siar made two gifts of $160,000 to set up the Jixun and Serene Scholarship, bond-free, with the hope to help nurture students who can navigate the connectivity not just “between different knowledge and subjects, but also between different cultures and communities.”
We would love to help you as you embark on your journey of philanthropy, please email nusc.giving@nus.edu.sg if you wish to support students at NUSC in similar ways.
Class Fund
You can participate meaningfully in campus life in many ways – getting involved in student organisations, mentoring students, providing internships and career opportunities, conducting admission interviews, as well as having conversations with students. Every graduating student leaves a mark in their own unique way. We are always grateful for those who give in kind, but would also like to encourage you to make a cash gift to mark your graduation and give back to the community that has helped shape you.
We would love to explore Class Fund ideas with you – reach out to Jenany Nathan at nusc.giving@nus.edu.sg to find out more.
