The QR Centre is hosting a talk by Dr Ling Ka Yi, entitled “Shiok Meats: Cell-based Meat”. Join this interesting session as Dr Ling shares about her work and her journey in setting up Shiok Meats Pte Ltd, an independent bio/food-tech startup developing cell-based seafood as an alternative sustainable food supply in Singapore.

Let’s ask why we are commemorating Singapore’s Bicentennial, the narratives that have arisen from it, and its role in forging Singapore's historical consciousness and future. We will have with us Senior Minister of State Janil Puthucheary (member of the Ministerial Steering Committee for the Singapore Bicentennial) and Mr Gene Tan (Executive Director of the Singapore Bicentennial Office) for this discussion.

BrainFood+ invites you to a discussion titled “Universities on the Move” with three panelists – Mr Adrian Kuah, Director of NUS Futures Office; Mr Aaron Maniam, USP Adjunct Lecturer; and our very own USP Director, A/P Kang Hway Chuan. Moderated by USP student Mohammed Noor Haqeem (Economics + USP, Class of 2019), the panelists will present their thoughts on undergraduate learnings and futures. My Unique Resume Workshop with Photo-shoot Session
Workshop: 3.00pm – 5.30pm Photo-shoot Session: 6.30pm – 7.30pm Organised by USP Career Services, the workshop will guide students on how to prepare a resume that aligns with one’s career inclination and reflects the uniqueness of being a USP graduate. At the end of the workshop, participants who are interested to get a professional photo for their resumes, may do so with an alum photographer, for $15. USP students not attending the above workshop may also have a professional photo taken for the same rate.

“Agriculture and Escapism in Japan” by Prof Yoshihisa Godo, Meiji Gakuin University
Organised by the Cinnamon Conversation and initiated by students, they have invited a guest professor, Prof Yoshihisa Godo from Meiji Gakuin University, for a teatime conversation with USP students. Prof Godo graduated from the University of Kyoto in 1994 with a PhD of Agricultural Economics. He has taught in renowned Japanese universities, including University of Tokyo, Waseda University and Meiji Gakuin University. He has also undertaken stints as a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Yale University and NUS East Asian Institute. He is currently a Special Councilor to the Osaka City Government.

Unplug and Wiggle Butts (Dog Interaction Session)
Come, join this last dog interaction session for the semester! This is an initiative to collaborate with residents at Medway Park (just right next to UTown) to walk their dogs into our campus and interact with the dogs closely. Each interaction session will last about 45mins at the Chua Thian Poh Hall or around the USP amphitheatre. This session is subject to weather condition. Information Session for NEW USP Study Trips to China and Thailand
USP will offer new study trips to China (Zhejiang University – Chu Kochen Honors College) and Thailand (Chiang Mai University) in May and June 2019. In China, students will examine the concepts of strategic leadership and innovation with top-notch Chinese professors in their areas of expertise: innovation and strategic management, brain sciences and society, environment and the arts. In Thailand, students will get an opportunity to study with the local experts on the pressing issues in Chiang Mai, where agricultural and industrial growth, and rapid economic development is posing problems for the environment, culture and society.
