Art Month: Literature Week
As part of the Art Month initiative, the USC Art Directorate has planned a range of activities to cater to the diverse artistic interests in our community. A different theme is adopted each week, and this week’s theme is “Literature”. Eco-Fest
Outside Cinnamon College and Tembusu College, University Town Outside Cinnamon College and Tembusu College, University Town Outside Cinnamon College and Tembusu College, University Town This event, co-organised by USP student Woo Qiyun, and some Yale-NUS students and alumni, is open to all NUS students and staff. There will be booths, sharing sessions, forums, conversations, film screenings, games and swapping on a wide variety of topics like youth advocacy, urban farming, energy, zero waste, social entrepreneurship and many more. USP alums Veerappan, co-founder and director of Sustainable Living Lab, and Alexius Yeo, director of Carbon Inq, will also be there to share some gems on sustainability and urban farming respectively. This student-initiated event is for students to share a module that they are passionate about, and in return, learn about something they are interested in (from a module they may not have been able to take) from another student. Such an exchange would hopefully encourage inter-disciplinary learning. Each sharing session will be around 40 mins (your sharing + you learning by attending one session from another student).

USP Talk: What To Do With The Bicentennial? by Prof Tan Tai Yong
USP invites Prof Tan Tai Yong, President and Professor of Humanities (History) at Yale-NUS College, for an interesting sharing on "What do to with the Bicentennial?". Singapore will commemorate the Bicentennial this year, marking the 200th anniversary of the landing of Stamford Raffles in 1819. The Bicentennial provokes a number of questions about Singapore’s history, and how we relate to that history. Professor Tan (also an Advisory Panel Member for the Singapore Bicentennial Office) will address some history questions in this session.

USP alum Zhai Yunjie (Psychology + USP, Class of 2018), currently a Product and User-experience designer, will be conducting two talks on Blockchain for the USP community. We strongly encourage students to join these interesting sessions. Named “Data Journalism”, it aims to encourage USP and NUS students to think critically and to reason quantitatively with real world data, utilising it to develop solutions to today’s complex problems. Princeton Diplomatic Invitational (PDI)
Ten USP students travel to Princeton University to participate in the Princeton Diplomatic Invitational, a flagship programme of the International Relations Council at Princeton University. The programme simulates real world diplomatic interactions and student delegates from top universities around the world work closely to influence and make policy decisions.
Intersection of Tradition and Technology: Japan
This is a new USP International Programme organised and initiated by USP students. Twelve USP students travel to Japan for this interdisciplinary programme that aims to explore the cross-sections of both the traditions and modern technologies in different fields. Japan as a country is at this very intersection, a country that is steeped in its own traditions and cultures, yet still constantly on the forefront of modern technological breakthroughs and advancements. The programme will bring students through Nagoya and Tokyo, as well as more rural areas such as Suzaka and Kiso Valley.
