Information Session for NEW USP Study Trips to China and Thailand
Seminar Room 1, USPUSP will offer new study trips to China (Zhejiang University – Chu Kochen Honors College) and Thailand (Chiang Mai University) in May and June 2019. In China, students will examine the concepts of strategic leadership and innovation with top-notch Chinese professors in their areas of expertise: innovation and strategic management, brain sciences and society, environment and the arts. In Thailand, students will get an opportunity to study with the local experts on the pressing issues in Chiang Mai, where agricultural and industrial growth, and rapid economic development is posing problems for the environment, culture and society. Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society in China
Zhejiang University, ChinaThis one-week study trip partnering with Chu Kochen Honors College (CKC), Zhejiang University is an experiential programme to promote student leadership. The trip will broadly cover the basic concepts of future leadership and topics in computer sciences, life sciences, medicine, innovation and strategic management, sociology and environmental arts. Students will be exposed to and learn from leading professors in their areas of expertise. Classroom sessions will be conducted in seminar style with strong emphasis on peer discussion following short lectures. Students need to complete assignments and a final group project at the end of the trip. USP students who go on this trip will also participate in a one-week study trip in Singapore and to host students of CKC from 21 to 26 July 2019.
SEA at the Crossroads
Chiang Mai, ThailandUSP students will be travelling to Chiang Mai province in Thailand to examine environmental and resources issues due to an increasing population, expanded industry and intensified agriculture. This study trip will allow students to address and aim in contributing to the technological, socioeconomic and political innovations that are emerging. USP faculty members and students will be working with the Departments of Chemistry, Biology, the Environmental Science Research Center, and the Regional Center for Social Science and Sustainable Development (RCSD) at Chiang Mai University.
Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society in Singapore
In and around USPThis is a follow-up trip from Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society in China, in May 2019. Organised by USP, the Singapore leg of this programme is a one-week summer seminar from 21 to 26 July 2019.
Intercultural Exchanges Through Theatre Fieldtrip
Yogyakarta, IndonesiaLed by USP faculty member Dr Miguel Escobar Varela, USP students will be travelling to Yogyakarta, Indonesia as part of their USP module UAR2207 Intercultural Exchanges Through Theatre. In this trip, students will learn to enjoy the traditional performing arts of Java by making puppets and playing music, and they will use theatre improvisation techniques to sharpen their intercultural awareness.
Pan-Asian Student Forum
Seoul, KoreaSix USP students will participate in the Pan-Asian Student Forum hosted by Seoul National University. The forum aims to provide a platform for students from Peking University (Yuanpei College), Seoul National University (College of Liberal Studies), the Chinese University of Hong Kong (S. H. Ho College), the University of Tokyo (College of Arts & Sciences) and NUS USP to meet regularly and share views on topics that impact countries in the region and around the world. The theme for the 2019 forum is “Politics of Difference”.
Pan-Asian Student Forum Sharing Session

In 2019, the forum was held in Seoul, Korea, under the theme “Politics of Difference”. Come and join this session as we have six USP students who participated in the forum last year to share their exciting experiences.
Chu Kochen Honors College (CKC)-USP Summer Seminar: Strategic Leadership, Innovation and Society 2020
An experiential for-credit programme, this 8-day online seminar will broadly cover the basic concepts of future leadership and topics in computer sciences, life sciences, medicine, innovation and strategic management, sociology and environmental arts. A more rigorous version based on last year’s pilot programme, students will learn from leading professors from Zhejiang University and NUS in their areas of expertise, as well as alongside CKC and USP students. Aside from the regular classes, there will be 3-4 evening sessions set aside for discussions, and cultural and historical virtual tour of places in Hangzhou, China and Singapore.
