SUMMARY:Info Session on Coffee Shop Talk in Aceh
DESCRIPTION:Initiated by two USP alums\, “Coffee Shop Talk in Aceh” will explore peace-building\, activism and humanitarianism in Aceh\, Indonesia. Aceh has experienced a combination of: civil war; a destructive tsunami; one of the largest international humanitarian responses for tsunami victims; an influx of Rohingya and Bangladeshi refugees; a province-wide network of human rights activists; and 13 years of peace. The trip will involve learning from a ground-up perspective – focusing on those who have fought in the civil war\, advocated for human rights and are helping to rebuild Aceh. The two-week programme will take place in June 2019. \nUSP alum Nursyazwani (History + USP\, Class of 2013)\, will provide further information to give an overview of the programme\, its objectives and to answer any questions. Students interested in the programme are encouraged to attend. Applications for ‘Coffee Shop Talk in Aceh’ will open in December 2018.
