Guest Lecture: Revisiting Easter Island’s Enigmatic Past
Global Learning Room, Level 2, Town Plaza, University TownDrawing on more than a decade of his own ground-breaking research, Professor Terry Hunt from University of Oregon documents Easter Island’s (or Rapa Nui) astonishing prehistoric success—indeed its resilience, despite marginal resources. A significant part of this remarkable story is Professor Hunt and his colleagues discovering just how the multi-ton statues or moai were transported to every corner of the island. Easter Island has a lesson for us today, but Professor Hunt provides compelling evidence that it is a different lesson than the one made so popular in recent years. Professor Hunt will talk about his interesting research at this special guest lecture.
