Public Lecture by NAK Distinguished Visiting Professor: The Frigid Gets Hot – Climate Change and Cultural Extinction in the Himalayan Highlands
00 March 2019 , 7:00 pm-8:30 pm
Hosted and organised by USP, we have Ngee Ann Kongsi Distinguished Visiting Professor Professor Maharaj K. Pandit to share with us on “Climate Change and Cultural Extinction in the Himalayan Highlands”. The Himalaya, also known as the ‘third pole’, harbors the largest glacier mass outside of the two poles. The mountains are under the international media spotlight, for an alarming report predicts a sea level rise of 1.5 meters driven by melting of the Himalayan glaciers. There are also reports about these ice-fields disappearing by 2035. This session will also discuss what does Himalayan warming mean for the sustainability of South and Southeast Asia, and Singapore.
All USP students are encouraged to attend this session. More information HERE.
