USP Faculty A/P Albert Teo Receives the Red Ribbon Award 2018
We are delighted to share that USP Deputy Director (Student Life), A/P Albert Teo, was presented with the Red Ribbon Award 2018 at the 11th Singapore AIDS Conference. Held on 8 December at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, the award was given in recognition of his volunteer work with people living with HIV over the past 18 years.
A/P Teo has been a volunteer in the Communicable Disease Centre (CDC) wards at Tan Tock Seng Hospital since 2001. Regardless of how busy he may be, he goes to CDC every Saturday to visit the patients. He introduced the “touch therapy programme” and other volunteers have since been employing the same touch therapy for the patients. This therapy approach sends signals of acceptance and care thus providing emotional healing for the patients.
Heartiest congrats to A/P Teo for receiving the recognition he so deserves! We hope this will inspire more people to contribute to the community by volunteering.
This year-end, we are bidding farewell to A/P Teo who will be leaving USP and NUS to teach in Hong Kong. We would like to take this opportunity to thank A/P Teo for his invaluable contributions and guidance to USP students and administration since the start of the programme in 2000. Having been with NUS for over 30 years, he has impacted the lives of, and inspired many students, alums and staff with his unwavering commitment and passion towards teaching, volunteerism, and community building and engagement. To A/P Albert Teo, we are immensely grateful. Although we are sad to see you leave, we are excited for you as you begin your next milestone in life. We wish you all the very best!
