Two USP faculty members, Assoc Prof Lo Mun Hou and Dr Edmund Low, received the NUS Annual Teaching Excellence Awards (ATEA) for Academic Year 2016/2017 on 28 September. Both received the USP Teaching Excellence Awards in 2017 – see here.

ATEA recognises faculty members who have displayed a high level of commitment to their teaching for the year. They have gone beyond the normal duty of classroom teaching and made significant and lasting contributions to students' intellectual and personal growth.

At USP, A/P Lo teaches in the domains of Writing and Critical Thinking, and Humanities and Social Sciences. As a frequent winner of Teaching Excellence Awards at both USP and university levels, A/P Lo continues his rigorous and insightful ways of imparting knowledge to students with great intellectual engagement and desire to lift students’ confidence and performance.

Dr Low teaches in the domains of Quantitative Reasoning (QR) Foundation, and Sciences and Technologies. His module “Quantifying Environmental Quality” is a prime example showing the efficacy of topic‐driven content that serves to exemplify the scientific/quantitative concepts our QR programme strives to inculcate. He pitches his class in a way eminently suitable for the interdisciplinary make‐up of his students, and structures the class in a way to make it challenging and engaging for everyone.
