USP alum Fairoz Ahmad (Sociology + USP, Class of 2006) launched his debut fiction collection, Interpreter of Winds, on 28 June 2019 at The Arts House. Published by Ethos Books, this book is a collection of short stories that reflect his experiences and observations growing up as a Muslim in a world too busy, too distracted, to understand one another, and his belief that the magic, wonder and richness of one’s history and culture, together with their quirks and eccentricities, with understanding, could help narrow this gap.

Awarded the prestigious Chevening scholarship to do postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford, Fairoz graduated with a Master of Public Policy (Distinction) in 2018. He is also the co-founder of the award-winning non-profit organisation, Chapter W, which provides innovative, suitable and sustainable solutions to help and empower the poor in Indonesia. This social enterprise adopts an innovative model of empowering rural women and bringing solar energy to rural areas.

Interpreter of Winds is available at Wardah Books, Huggs-Epigram Coffee Bookshop, Books Kinokuniya, and Ethos Books webstore.

Heartiest congratulations to Fairoz for his debut fiction collection launch!
