HOURS OF OPERATION (AY 2011-12 SEM 2)

This semester, the Writing Centre will be open every weekday from Jan 25 to Apr 20 (we are closed during examination period), except on the following holidays:

Feb 20-24 (Recess Week)
Apr 6 (Good Friday)

During reading week (Apr 16 to 20), conferences are strictly by appointment only (i.e., no drop-ins).

Our hours are as follows:

Monday 12 pm - 7 pm
Tuesday 9 am - 4 pm
Wednesday 9 am - 2 pm, 5 pm - 6 pm
Thursday 10 am - 11 am, 12 pm - 1 pm, 2 pm - 7 pm
Friday 9 am - 10 am, 1 pm- 2 pm

There are two ways to consult with a Writing Assistant. You can:

  • Make an appointment, by clicking here.

This ensures that you have a specific 45-minute slot, which the Writing Assistant will devote to you. When you make an appointment, please arrive promptly at the start of the appointment time.

You can make appointments up to 2 weeks in advance; if you cannot make your conference time, please cancel your appointment (again, by clicking here). As noted in our FAQ, if you make a habit out of not showing up for appointments you have made, we will have to restrict or suspend your access to the Centre. The online scheduler locks at midnight, so all apppointments and cancellations must be made before midnight, the day before your desired appointment.

If you have trouble with the online scheduler, please the Writing Centre directly.

  • Drop-in at the Centre during the above-listed hours. Keep in mind, however, that Writing Assistants will work with scheduled students first; we therefore recommend that you make an appointment.

Please come with two physical copies of what you want to work on -- an assignment, ideas, rough notes, a first or final draft, even a graded paper. We strongly advise you to schedule your conference such that you have enough time, after your visit to the Writing Centre, to revise your work. Coming to us a few hours before your paper deadline is unlikely to be ideal.
