SPAN Get-Together 2019
The annual Scholars Programme Alumni Network (SPAN) Get-Together organised by the University Scholars Programme (USP) was held on Saturday, 16 Feb. Set up to be a cozy affair, the event saw about 60 USP alumni, students, faculty and staff come together for an evening of memories and great company at the rooftop of the Education Resource Centre in University Town. It is our first time using this space for our get-together.
Our USP Director Associate Professor Kang Hway Chuan gave a welcome address and expressed his gratitude to the alumni for taking time out during the Lunar New Year season to reconnect with us. We took this chance to make some announcements and share about new initiatives to bring together alums with our current students. Apart from organising talks and events, USP has also recently started our own NUS USP LinkedIn page and group. The group aims to be an informal platform for students to connect with the alumni with similar interests, or for alumni to provide opportunities to students or fellow alumni.
“It’s so amazing to see old friends back in University Town, as nothing has changed. We surrounded A/P Barbara Ryan, and a five-minute catch up became an hour-long discussion! How much I’ve missed all these ...”
– Ms Zhang Xintian (History + USP, Class of 2015)
Overall, it was a great evening of reminiscence, laughter and catching-up.
