Dear USP Students,

Coming your way once again by popular demand is PROJECT HIMALAYA 3: Central Himalaya. This summer, USP will be collaborating with a prestigious Himalayan university and will offer USP students a grand opportunity to know and appreciate the amazing biological diversity of Himalaya, local attempts & novel experiments at conservation and initiatives of local and government agencies. It will also open an exclusive window to India’s cultural diversity in the Northeast. This trip will be led by Prof. Maharaj Pandit.

More detailed information will be provided to the selected students at a later date.

Duration

From 15 to 30 May 2008

Key Deliverables

  1. A paper on a subject related agreed upon by the individual student and Prof. Pandit. The paper should combine insights from the seminars, discussions and lectures held during the trip along with personal reflections by the students.

  2. A website for this Programme, upon its conclusion.  The website should include the following:
    • the itinerary;
    • descriptive reports on the various activities/events;
    • personal reflections on lessons learnt during the activities/events, observations made from interactions, outcomes of the exchange program, etc.;
    • lots of pictures (or video clips).

  3. A display board (as seen on Level 5 of BLK ADM) for this Programme, upon its conclusion.  The display board should include the following:
    • the itinerary;
    • descriptive reports on the various activities/events;
    • personal reflections on lessons learnt during the activities/events, observations made from interactions, outcomes of the exchange program, etc.;
    • lots of pictures

Cost

Students are expected to pay S$1,000 as part of the Programme fee.

20 USP students will be selected for this programme.

Students who are interested are required to submit the items stated below. Please note that you will be required to attend an interview. All applicants should also have a minimum CAP of at least 3.5 in order to be eligible to apply.

    • Your reasons for applying to this programme
    • What you can contribute to this program
    • What you expect to gain from the experience and how you would utilize what you have learn upon your return to Singapore

  3. A Curriculum Vitae no longer than 2 pages in length (to be attached via the online application page)
