NUS-IN-YALE SUMMER PROGRAMME 2008

"Thy summer voice,
Musketaquit,

Repeats the music
of the rain;

But sweeter rivers
pulsing flit

Through thee, as thou
through Concord Plain."

—Ralph Waldo Emerson, Two Rivers

21 February, 2008 We are happy to inform that application for NUS-in-Yale 2008 is now open. An important part of your NUS education is to have significant global experience, interacting with the best and brightest around the world.  NUS-in-Yale gives NUS undergraduates an Ivy League experience during the Yale Summer Session. Through this five-week summer programme , ten selected NUS students will study and interact with Yale students. You will stay at Yale residential colleges and experience many aspects of Yale undergraduate life.

The program will start on 2 June  and end on 4 July.  Students will select two from a list of modules within the broad focus areas of Economics, Politics and Philosophy, and Human Relations.  The relevant modules will be made known later to selected students:

Objectives :

We aim to have students sustain and amplify this Ivy League experience after their return to NUS.

USP students will further develop what they have learnt at Yale through supervised independent study as part of their USP Advanced Curriculum.

Eligibility :

This is open to 1st and 2nd Year students of USP and USP partner faculties.  Do note that priority will be given to Year 2 students.

For USP students,  substitution credit will be given for one 1st tier USP module.  The two modules taken at Yale may substitute for major/faculty requirements upon approval by the department or faculty; approval may be sought through the usual procedure for SEP module substitution.

Shortlisted students will be notified by 22 February 2008 and are required to attend an interview in the week of 3 to 7 March. Students who are unable to attend the interview will not be considered for selection.
