Dear USP Students,
We are pleased to announce that the Lee Shiu Centre for Intercultural Learning Summer Programme is back for the 4th time. This year, along the theme “China Rising: In Pursuit of One World One Dream”. (中國騰飛:邁向同一世界 同一夢想), the Programme will commence in Beijing (July 8-16, 2008), continue in Singapore (July 16-24, 2008) and reach its finale in Hong Kong (July 24-August 5, 2008) featuring a series of seminars, workshops and field trips, and a Youth Forum as its concluding event. About eighty undergraduates from renowned universities in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and the United States will come together to examine the qualities and strengths of aforementioned three cities that are important for the development of China in the following five areas: Government, Legal System, Economic Development, Education and Culture, and Social Services. Supported by a generous donation from Dr. and Mrs. Lee Shiu, Chung Chi College established the Lee Shiu Centre of Intercultural Learning in February 2001. The Centre launched its premiere study programme with a theme of “China Today: A Study of Hong Kong and Shanghai”. The 2004 Programme was organized by Chung Chi College, and co-organized by Fudan University and the University Scholars Programme (USP), National University of Singapore (NUS). The 2006 Programme was held under the auspices of the Lee Shiu Centre of Intercultural Learning, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, with the collaboration of the University Scholars Programme (USP), National University of Singapore, and Tsinghua University. The objective of the Lee Shiu Summer Programme is to bring together undergraduates with strong leadership potential from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United States to discuss issues related to the development of China.
