USP students contributed much to the success of the recent 17th ASEAN University Network (AUN) and 6th ASEAN+3 Educational Forum and Young Speakers Contest. Held from 22-26 May 2017 at USP, the event provided a platform for discussions, public speaking and academic presentations by some 50 students from ASEAN+3 (China, Japan and the Republic of Korea) countries. A group of USP students represented NUS in either participating or organising the event. They are:

USP delegates Hao Jing and Charlene clinched the First Runner-up award for the Young Speakers’ Contest and the Most Outstanding Working Group award for the Educational Forum respectively. For the Contest, Hao Jing competed with 22 delegates from various ASEAN+3 countries in delivering a prepared speech, followed by an impromptu speech based on the theme. For the Forum, the delegates were divided into three working groups to come up with unique solutions and policy recommendations to common problems faced by ASEAN+3 countries. Charlene’s group won the Most Outstanding Working Group award after she and her groupmates impressed the judges with their excellent speaking and debating skills, and extensive research on security, environmental and economic challenges. Well done, Hao Jing and Charlene!

Last but not least, kudos to the USP International Programmes Team and the student organising committee for being the backbone of the event, and the emcees and rapporteur for Educational Forum for their contributions to the event.
