USP Alum Clinches the Woman Entrepreneur Award 2018
USP alum Amutha Saravanan (Psychology + USP, Class of 2007) was among 14 outstanding women entrepreneurs honoured at the Women Entrepreneur Awards (WEA) 2018 on 11 July at The Ritz-Carlton Millenia. Amutha, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Da Vinci Group (DVG) Pte Ltd, was awarded under the Stellar category for promising women leaders championing the start-up economy; she has demonstrated outstanding entrepreneurial qualities in developing her business.
DVG was founded by Amutha and her husband (USP alum too!), Saravanan Manorkorum (Life Science + USP, Class of 2007), in 2012. The company is an education enterprise that combines the collective specialties of neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, arts, and education to revolutionise conventional teaching and learning methodologies. She combined her love for pottery into a novel business idea by realising the numerous benefits clay can have on the human psyche.
WEA winners came from across various emerging industries, ranging from healthcare and education to offshore oil and gas engineering to beauty. They were chosen by a panel of judges – among them was our USP alum Tin Pei Ling (Psychology + USP, Class of 2007), a Member of Parliament.
We think Amutha is incredibly imaginative and creative in her approach to business, and has shown great tenacity. Well done, Amutha! We are very proud of you.
